Erikson is a taking a huge, very unnecessary risk here. In all likelyhood Rooney and Owen may not play, leaving him with 2 options in offence. One of them is 17 year old !!!!!! and had no international experience.

Joking aside, I think this pinpoints Englands problems over years. The striker position has constantly disappointed no matter who has been put in and with Rooney out, its back to square one. I believe in the saying, "you cant have it both ways" but the Press and some fans do. They are on his back when he has been predictable and now when he hasnt, no win situation. I feel he has decided that the obvious selections are not the answer so take a chance on some potential, its not as if things can get worse. :drink:

Its not as if the Midfield has no goal scorers, outside of using Crouch as a old fashion Centre Forward, I would prefer another midfield player than what is on offer outside rooney. When you look at the Brazilians, they dont care about positions, they just play the best players regardless, I could never leave Joe Cole out of a Team to make way for Bent Etc. :drink:

I agree Joe Cole would do well in a forward position, so bring in an extra midfielder/offensive player. Why oh why select the young Walcott (unless he's actually considering playing him ?????) ? Makes no sense.
